Creating awareness for omnipresent connectedness. This was the goal that originated from the key question of the biggest and most theoretical project of my studies: "How do the possibilities of the internet influence inter-human behaviours?".
The idea: Establishing a new relationship to digital interconnectedness by making use of a traditionally familiar component.
I created an object that could be passed on from person to person, enabling the holder to create a short personal profile on a special, connected website.
During the objects trip, In this way, the object is creating relations between various persons during its trip
In this way, during its trip, the object is creating a linkage of connected relationships between various people. This linear network, shown on a world map, can be publicly seen on the same website. It shows the pathway of the journey and makes it possible to explore individual profiles.
The connection of profiles is creating a special and private relatedness between the participants. In the case of the object crossing borders, this relatedness can even lead to an enhanced interest in other cultures and lifestyles.
During the project i created a prototypical website and two physical prototypes: One to try out the practicability of passing on an object. A box with a mobile phone, that effectively traveled through different parts of Germany. And a second one that can be seen as an approach to the final product, already visualising the process of identification.
